Pregnancy
Early Antenatal Consultation
A short introduction to Hong Kong's maternity services and options, lasting around 20 - 30 minutes. This consultation includes information about government hospitals and clinics, private health care, insurance and an introduction to Annerley services.
Single Antenatal Consultation
1 hour consult with one of our midwives, for those that need time to ask questions and get information, for example if they have not attended antenatal classes.
Antenatal Clinic
In co-operation with the services provided by private obstetricians or public hospitals, each appointment lasts 30 minutes and covers routine check-ups such as urine testing, blood pressure and listening to the fetal heartbeat. An assessment of baby's size and position is made and the emotional and physical wellbeing of the mother is ensured. If complications are detected, the mother is referred to an obstetrician. These check-ups are popular amongst parents who use the government system but also want personalised care that is not too expensive.
Birth Breathing Class
Every other Friday morning, these 1.5 hour sessions focus on breathing and positions for labour and birth. A full hour is spent on meditation and relaxation exercises for the birth. A positive and relaxing atmosphere ensures a time well spent. Perfect for those that have not done classes before, those that have not had any breathing practice, second time mothers or those that want to keep up their breathing practice after classes have finished. Book one or come more often, up to you.
Refresher Course for Second Time Parents
2x2 hours -These courses are tailored for second-time parents who want to brush up on their knowledge, share their experiences and learn from others with the aim of enjoying an even better second-time experience. These smaller, informal group sessions, are extremely helpful and straight to the point. The relaxation methods are based on Hypnobirthing and Active Birth.
Private Antenatal Classes, 2x2 hours
For those whose the regular group courses are not suitable, we offer 2x2 hour private sessions during regular working hours (8 30 - 5 pm). These two sessions give a practical and useful preparation for the birth, breastfeeding and taking care of the baby.
Babies and Beyond
Traditional antenatal classes, with all the information you need including C-sections and Epidurals. 5 sessions that cover everything from labour and birth, through drugs, complications, baby care and breastfeeding. Plus one private session at the end of the course.
Natural Birth Course
These classes are based on the HYPNOBIRTHING methods and ACTIVE BIRTH programme. For those who would prefer to have a drug and intervention free birth, these classes focus primarily on positive preparation, mind and body training for natural birth and include breathing practice in each session. There is one session that covers information on breastfeeding and baby care.
Express Antenatal Course 2x3 hours
2 x3 hour weekend course, total 6 hrs. For those with busy schedules and work commitments, we also offer Saturday classes. They cover the same traditional topics as the Babies and Beyond classes but compact the 5-week timescale of the larger classes into two 3 hour Saturday sessions.
Postnatal
Postnatal Home Visit Package - 5 sessions
See description our Postnatal Home Visit. This package includes 5 x1 hour sessions and 1 mother and baby coupon. The visits are spread over a period of 1 - 2 months, depending on need.
Postnatal Home Visit
1 hour, including travel -When discharged from hospital, many parents feel that they still need extra support. Our programme starts the day after the mother and the baby are discharged from hospital and, continues regularly for a period of 1 - 12 weeks. It enables the family to properly adjust to the new situation, ensures that breastfeeding is well established and that an emotional well-being is secured. Each visit is tailored according to the individual family´s needs, with the emphasis being to focus on the most urgent issues present. In the early days this is quite often the breastfeeding; therefore, we would focus on the prevention of sore breasts and mastitis, show you different feeding positions, discuss how often and how long you need to feed your baby and how to know if your infant is getting enough milk. As other issues then follow, you will be given the required support and advice to ensure that you are able to both fulfil and enjoy your role as a new parent. This typically includes: * Performing a complete physical check on the baby * Assistance in the care and maintenance of the belly button and cord * A demonstration of the basics of baby massage * Weighing the baby * Administering a PKU blood test (if required) * Checking that the uterus is contracting well * Checking that the perineum/wound is healing well * Giving support through the 'baby blues' * Discussing different aspects of parenting and baby care.
