infant
& child CPR and first aid - and home safety
Every parent and helper should know how and when to administer
CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) and provide first aid. CPR can
restore the circulation of oxygen rich blood to the brain. Without oxygen,
permanent brain damage or death can occur in less than four to six minutes.
Although the subject matter may seem disturbing to some, it is important to
know how to deal with emergencies at home. Because the majority of
our clients are families with small children, we conduct these courses to
ensure that parents and carers are well versed in
these life-saving skills.
The workshop also covers how to deal with other childhood emergencies such
as Choking, Shock, Bleeding, Wounds, Burns and Poison. This course
gives you both the knowledge and the practice to ensure that you have the
confidence in your own abilities in an emergency situation. It is
aimed for parents and you may bring your child with you should you wish to
do so.
There are separate CPR and first aid courses for
helpers available, designed specially with their needs in mind, please
contact the office for details.
Our courses are held on Saturday afternoons (One 4.5 hour
session). For helpers, the course done in two lessons, on mondays and
tuesdays from 2 00 - 4 00.
Please book well in advance, since
the classes fill up really quick.
