child growth and development assessments
In the early
months your baby is regularly checked in terms of growth and
development during visits to your paediatrician, midwife or baby
clinic. However, after 6 months of age, these opportunities become
fewer. Following enquiries and requests from clients for a
continuing comprehensive programme of check ups, Annerley is now
offering growth and development assessments at the ages of 7–9
months, 18 months and 2 ½ years.
We will check
that your baby or child is displaying age appropriate skills, that
general development is within normal limits and that you are happy
with the way your child is progressing. Your child’s
physical, cognitive, language, social-emotional, fine and gross
motor skills will be assessed. We will also discuss your child’s nutrition and general
behaviour.
These checkups are conducted in our office, with the necessary equipment
to assess both gross and fine motor skills, speech development,
vision and hearing. Should any variations from the medium be
detected, we are able to refer to the appropriate specialists.
Each
appointment can take up to 1.5 hour and is done in our centre in
Lyndhurst Terrace. Please try to ensure that your child has
had a good sleep and is not hungry during the appointment. We
will ask the parents to answer questions and then do the actual
testing with the child, in a non-threatening way and friendly
environment. Vision will be tested for the older children.
Dates and hours for the clinic are
from 10am to 13 pm every other
Thursday.
To make an appointment please fill in the
